When test results are coming in, most likely, testers will discover issues. You will learn all about resolving issues in this tutorial. Time to focus on the problems at hand and keep your team in sync.
You can start resolving issues by selecting Resolve in the header. The issues overview provides you with all issues of the currently selected project.
In the issues overview the issue code, name, status, category, and impact are shown for each issue.
All issues created based on test results will be shown here, as well as issues created from within the issues overview.
Add an Issue
In the issues overview it is possible to add new issues by clicking on the Add issue button on the top right.
However, in most situations it is advised to add issues based on test results amongst others for reporting purposes. You can do so by clicking on Track > Test Cases or Track Test Runs in the header. Open the sidebar by selecting the test case or the test run where the test result is part of.
In the sidebar you can click the Add Issue button on the top right to create a new issue. A popup will appear allowing you to specify the issue.
Adding issues in TestMonitor is simple. Start by entering a short name that clearly explains your issue. You can add a more thorough explanation of the issue in the description field.
The status of your issue will develop over the time of your project, in most cases it start as “open” and will end up as “closed”. A category can be added to define the type of issue that occurred. Furthermore you can add an impact that implies how severe the issue is and whether it is blocking or not.
You can assign an issue to a user and set its priority as well as add a task that has to be performed by the assignee.
Once your issue has been created you can view its details and start adding comments and attachments, for example in case of updates or when additional information is required. Go to resolve via the header.
If you have created an issue based on a test result all attachments added to the test result will also be visible in the attachments tab of the related issue.
Go to the issue detail page by either selecting the Code of the issue or the 'arrow' button to the right of the issue. The issue detail page shows: all issue properties; its description, attachments, and comments; related tasks and test results; and a full audit trail.
You can edit an issue's properties by moving your cursor over Name, Status, Impact, Priority, Category, Assignee, Resolution, and Description. Select the particular field and you'll be able to edit the text or select an additional item.
You can add attachments in several ways. Either by selecting the attachment area and select the file you'd like to add, or by drag and dropping the file in to the attachment area, or by copy and pasting the file in to the attachment area.
